Though a newer version of the Scorpio will be launched this year, it won’t be an all new Scorpio. Due to the influx of modern technology, it is time to redesign and update the current Scorpio and decorate it with new and improved features and enhance the comfort and space. With the boom in technology there are multiple new features that are being incorporated in the competition SUVs. In the last few years, Mahindra itself has made significant changes in the Scorpio to make it stand out amongst the competition SUVs. Let’s see what those features entail.
Upgraded features: There are lot of enhancements being made in the interiors. There is a slight improvement in the seating area. The seats are slightly bigger and comfortable made especially for those long duration journeys and a relaxed drive. Mahindra is all set to launch the new Scorpio against Hyundai-Creta and Honda BR-V. To match up with the grandeur of these cars, Mahindra needs to improve the plastic quality and add in new advance features. For the first time Mahindra Scorpio will get a Reverse parking camera since they are going to ditch the reverse parking sensors. Mahindra has been finally giving heed to its customer’s attention and making continuous changes.
Competition: The new Mahindra Scorpio Facelift 2017 will be standing gun up against the Hyundai-Creta, Renault Duster and Honda BR-V. There will be the Nissan Kicks SUV and the Renault Kaptur also that will be competing with the new Mahindra Scorpio. A seven seater version of the Duster is also in the making.
Engine: Mahindra could get the Scorpio with the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine with this model launch mostly. There is also a 2.2-litre petrol engine that is also being readied for a launch. The diesel engine will produce the same 120bhp of power and it will come with a five-speed manual and a six-speed automatic box.
Design: The New Mahindra Scorpio will be laced with stellar and advanced features. There will be a new front grille, with a revised headlamp styling. The front bumper will see a change and redesigned fog lamps will be used. The rear will see a minor change with slight changes in the tail lamp design.
Price: There won’t be much price hike in the new Mahindra price hike. However, with the petrol model you can see a slight change. The Model would be priced at about INR 9.5 lakhs (on-road).
Launch: Mahindra will be looking at launching the 2017 Scorpio by mid 2017 or late 2017. Mahindra will complete three years of the new Scorpio by the end of 2014. This will be ideal time for the company to get updates to one of their highest selling SUV.
