A distributor rotor and cap in an engine’s ignition system is responsible for transferring a proportionate amount of voltage from the ignition coils to the engine’s cylinders in order to spark up the mixture of air and fuel inside in order to power the engine. The ignition coils are connected directly to the rotors, which spins inside the distributor cap. Now, when the tip of the rotor transports a contact to the cylinder, a high-voltage current passes from the ignition coil to the engine cylinders via rotors, which ignites the speak plug on the cylinder to power the engine.
Since the distributor cap and rotor is involved in a high-voltage activity, they wear out quite easily and should be replaced relatively frequently. With approaching failure the distributor cap and motor exudes some signs which must be paid attention to at all costs. The experts of acclaimed Mahindra Spare Parts dealers have listed down these symptoms for you.
Engine misfiring:
Engine misfires can probably occur for an innumerable number of reasons. But, the safest place to look for when the problem arises is the distributor cap and rotor to see if they need replacement. This is also to ensure if the distributor rotor and cap is in best of its condition.
Abnormal Shaking:
The most common indication that your vehicle’s distributor cap and rotor needs immediate attention is the abnormal shaking of the car whenever it is running. This will start with slight vibration and will ultimately lead to an unexplained shaking that can be felt throughout the vehicle. This pronounced shaking indicates that the distributor cap and rotor is not operating properly, which is interfering with the timing and firing process.
Squealing Noise:
Not just when something and some particular car component is going bad, a motorist must always be aware of any unexplained or unusual noise, when they are behind the wheel driving. This could be because of the failing rotor inside the distributor which is not rotating properly. Other symptoms that go hand in hand with this squealing noise are stalling and fluctuating RPMs. So keep your eyes and ears open.
